There are 12 new active cases of COVID-19 in Nunavut today and one recovered, 10 additional cases in Iqaluit, two in Kinngait, bringing the total to 61 active cases of the virus in the territory, according to the Government of Nunavut (GN).
Four of those are in Kinngait, two in Rankin Inlet and the majority are in Iqaluit at 55 active cases.
There have been 34 recoveries since this outbreak began in Iqaluit earlier this month.
Thus far 15,734 Nunavummiut have received the first dose of the Moderna vaccine and 12,285 are now fully vaccinated.
On Monday, it was confirmed that this is the B.1.1.7. (British) variant of the coronavirus and that the night of April 14 at the Chart Room Lounge was most likely a super-spreader event.
As per public health orders, all individuals travelling from Iqaluit must isolate for 14 days upon arrival in another community. People are also advised to call the COVID hotline for concerns of exposure or if they develop symptoms.
