Kugluktuk RCMP charge man with 20 offences

Multiple assaults and sexual assaults among the accusations
arrest
David Kuliktana was arrested at a cabin near Kugluktuk on Sept. 5.

Nunavut's RCMP Containment Team, working with the K Division Emergency Response Team from Alberta, arrested 31-year-old David Kuliktuna at a cabin outside Kugluktuk on Sept. 5.

He has been charged with the following:

–possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

–sexual interference

–uttering threats (x3)

–criminal harassment

–assault  

–assault with a weapon

–assault causing bodily harm

–assault by choking (x2)

–sexual assault (x2)

–forcible confinement (x2)

–intimidation to abstain from reporting (x2)

–failing to comply with a probation order (x3)

Kuliktana appeared before court and was ordered to remain in jail until his next court appearance, which is scheduled for Oct. 22 in Iqaluit.

The police obtained a warrant for Kuliktana's arrest from the Nunavut Court of Justice on Aug. 30.

The RCMP expressed their gratitude to residents of Kugluktuk for their cooperation and assistance in this matter.
