Resolute Bay man charged with first-degree murder

Babah Kalluk of Resolute Bay is scheduled to make his next court appearance on Jan. 7, 2025.

The Nunavut RCMP Major Crimes unit has charged 44-year-old Babah Kalluk of Resolute Bay with first-degree murder.

The charge was laid after police responded to a wellness check request in the community on Nov. 22 at approximately 4:30 pm that resulted in the discovery of a dead female. The police did not reveal victim's identity in a Nov. 25 news release. 

Kalluk was flown to Iqaluit, where he was remanded into custody. His next court appearance is set for Jan. 7, 2025.

As a publication ban has been issued, this is the only information that will be provided at this time, the RCMP stated.
