Six Nunavummiut between the ages of 11 to 15 have been accused in a break and enter that occurred at the Canada Post office in Cambridge Bay.

On Nov. 20, at approximately 2 a.m, Cambridge Bay RCMP responded to a complaint from the post master, who alerted police that the surveillance system had been activated and that people had been seen inside the post office. RCMP officers subsequently arrived on scene and were given access to the building.

Upon entry, the police apprehended six teenagers and took them into custody. Two of the accused were under the age of 12, and so they were consequently given a warning and released to their parents/guardian without charges. The other four youths — between ages 13 and 15 — were charged with the break and enter, theft under $5,000, mischief under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime and possession of break-in instruments.
