UPDATE: The Government of Nunavut lifted the boil water advisory Thursday, June 2.

The Government of Nunavut has issued a boil water advisory for all residents of Whale Cove Monday, May 9.

“This is a precautionary measure due to total coliform bacteria in the water system,” stated a Department of Health news release.

During a boil water advisory, all water for consumption must be brought to a rolling boil for a minimum of one full minute.

It is essential that all water be boiled for drinking, preparing infant formulas, preparing juices and ice cubes, washing fruits and vegetables, cooking and brushing teeth.
