Covid-19 related public health measures eased in Pond Inlet

On Nov. 19 public health measures in Pond Inlet were eased, announced Nunavut’s chief public health officer Dr. Michael Patterson.

“There are no active cases of Covid-19 in Pond Inlet,” said Patterson. “After more than a week with no cases, it is safe to once again ease restrictions in the community. I encourage residents to continue following public health measures.”

Patterson added that masks remain mandatory in all Nunavut communities.

Pond Inlet’s public health measures are as follows:

- Outdoor limit of 50 people

- Indoor private gathering limit of 10 people

- Indoor public gathering limit is 25 people or 50 per cent capacity

- Libraries and galleries are limited to 25 people or 50 per cent capacity, no group tours

- Gyms, fitness centres are limited to 25 people or 50 per cent capacity

- Places of worship are limited to 50 people or 25 per cent capacity

- Arenas remain at 50 people or 50 per cent capacity and 50 spectators

- Personal services such as beauty salons and hairdressers may open

- Restaurants and licensed establishments may open to 25 per cent capacity

- Group counselling sessions are limited to ten people

- Elders facilities and long-term care facilities may have two visitors per resident, masks are mandatory and immediate family only

- Parks and playgrounds may open, but buildings remain closed

Anyone who develops Covid-19 symptoms is advised to call the Covid hotline at 1-888-975-8601 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. EST or notify their community health centre right away by phone. Please do not go to the health centre in person.
