Seven new COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday; Kinngait free of active cases

Nunavut stands at 22 active cases of COVID-19 as of Wednesday, all in Iqaluit, as the last individual infected with the virus in Kinngait has now recovered.

The latest announcement from the Government of Nunavut indicated that there are seven new cases of the coronavirus and two recoveries. The GN acknowledged that it made a mistake earlier in the week by overstating recoveries by four.

“Sorry for the confusion. Let’s keep working hard and staying focused,” wrote Premier Joe Savikataaq.

Nunavummiut who have received their first dose of the Moderna vaccine now number 17,077, while 14,405 people have been fully vaccinated.

There have been 230 recoveries since this outbreak started in April.
