The Government of Nunavut is announcing eight recoveries from COVID-19 as of Tuesday, all in Iqaluit, and no new cases of the virus.
This brings the total number of active cases in the capital down to zero, whereas the number of active cases stood at eight during the previous nine days.
“This outbreak is not over. Remember to follow all the public health rules. Mask up. Keep physical distance. Keep your bubbles small. Wash your hands often. Get vaccinated,” wrote Nunavut Premier Joe Savikataaq on social media.
He added, “In the mean time, way to go Iqaluit!”
A total of 15,861 people in Nunavut, including rotational workers, are fully vaccinated along with a further 4,265 receiving their first vaccine dose as of today.
Last week, Pfizer vaccination clinics for prioritized youth ages 12-17 started all over Nunavut, contributing further to existing first dose numbers.
There have been 262 recoveries since this outbreak began in April.
