Nunavut is reporting no new cases of COVID-19 as of Thursday and has seen one recovery in Iqaluit, the only remaining location in the territory with active cases.
There are currently 21 active infections in the capital. There have been 17,104 people in Nunavut, including rotational workers, who have received their first dose of the Moderna vaccine while 14,611 people are now fully vaccinated.
In Iqaluit, 5,331 people have been vaccinated with their first dose and 66 percent are fully vaccinated as of May 24.
On May 26, Kinngait’s last active case recovered and the community is now free of active cases.
There are 9,360 Pfizer vaccine doses slated to arrive in Nunavut during the second week of June.
The Pfizer and the Moderna vaccines are the two only vaccines approved for use in Nunavut, with the former being approved for use in children ages 12 and up.
