Workers departing Baffinland Iron Mines’ Mary River mine will no longer be asked to isolate, the Department of Health stated on Monday morning.

An outbreak of COVID-19 cases at the mine, which began on May 2, had necessitated isolation plans. The Department of Health stated that the outbreak is still technically ongoing, but there are no active cases at the mine site.

Any mine workers who departed prior to June 20 will still be expected to complete 14 days of isolation.

Individuals who leave Mary River on or after June 21 are being instructed to contact their local public health authorities after arriving at their destination. They are also advised to self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms and to contact a health professional if symptoms are detected.
