RCMP seized approximately 436 grams of amphetamines and $37,000 in cash from a residence in Pangnirtung after executing a search warrant on May 25.

Jenna, Nora and Ken Papatsie as well as one young person were arrested and charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA) with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, the Mounties stated in a May 28 news release.

All parties are set to appear in the Nunavut Court of Justice in Pangnirtung on Aug. 16 for their first appearance.

Amphetamines are commonly known on the street as “speed” or “uppers” because they stimulate the nervous system.
