Iqaluit RCMP will be extra vigilant for dangerous and impaired drivers over the next week.
Operation Impact, an annual public awareness campaign, is slated for Oct. 8-11.
Officers will be on the lookout for motorists who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, distracted drivers, aggressive driving and driving while fatigued, all of which are the leading causes of death on Canadian roads.
The Mounties will also focus on education regarding the use of seatbelts and proper child vehicle restraints.
Drivers in and around the city can expect to see RCMP patrols and sobriety check stops during those four days.
