‘Suspicious’ Kinngait fire injures three people: RCMP

RCMP in Kinngait are seeking information from the public relating to a “suspicious” fire that occurred in Kinngait on March 10. The Canadian Press/Darryl Dyck

RCMP in Kinngait have determined that a house fire on March 10 at around 11:30 p.m. is “suspicious in nature.”

The local fire department, helped by bystanders, were able to extinguish the fire that left two youths and an adult with minor injuries. They were subsequently treated at the health centre and released the following day, the police stated in a news release issued Friday afternoon.

The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information related to the incident to call the Kinngait RCMP at 867-897-0123.

The police wish to encourage Nunavummiut to continue to report suspicious activity by contacting their home RCMP detachment or by calling Crime Stoppers at toll-free 1-800-222- 8477 (TIPS), submitting a secure web tip at www.nwtnutips.com or text ‘NWTNUTIPS’ plus message to 274637 (CRIMES).
