Iqaluit RCMP and the city's municipal enforcement division combined forces to hold an impaired driving blitz on July 26 and 27.
Of the close to 50 vehicles stopped, three drivers were charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, according to the RCMP. Seven drivers were issued 24-hour licence suspensions after "registering an ‘alert’ on a roadside alcohol screening device," the police added.
"Iqaluit Municipal Enforcement and Iqaluit RCMP encourage drivers to practice safe driving practices and will continue to work together to enforce a zero tolerance for impaired driving," a July 29 RCMP news release reads.
