Three people badly injured in polar bear attack near Sanirajak

A man was flown to Ottawa and two women were sent to Iqaluit by medevac for treatment of their injuries following a polar bear attack outside Sanirajak on Aug. 10.

A man was flown to Ottawa and two women were sent to Iqaluit by medevac for treatment of their injuries following a polar bear attack outside Sanirajak on Aug. 10.

They are expected to recovery from their injuries, according to the RCMP.

The incident occurred near some cabins located south of the Dewline.

The polar bear was found dead at the cabins and a wildlife officer took possession of the carcass, the police stated in an Aug. 11 news release.
