Lifelong Toronto Maple Leafs fan Gabe Karlik of the Kivalliq Inuit Association (KIA) had to take it on the chin and wear a Montreal Canadiens sweater in Rankin Inlet this past week.
Karlik had bet Jean Kusugak that he could lose more weight than her in the biggest loser competition.
When Kusugak proved herself to be the top loser Karlik had to risk further gains by swallowing his pride and donning the Habs jersey, much to the delight of his fellow KIA workers.
Festival time in Baker

The annual Festival by the Lake took place in Baker Lake this past weekend from Aug. 24-26.
This year's event offered something for everyone, including zip lines, water walking, face painting, a traditional talent showcase, Inuit games demonstrations, fireworks displays and an end-of-festival parade among many other fun-filled events.

The Legionaries defeated the New Era three games to zip too capture the Rankin Inlet Co-ed Softball League championship in Rankin this past week.
Players of the champion Legionaries squad are Lee Kreelak, Kandace Graham, Chad Graham, Colton Graham, Donovan Akerolik, Hilary Tulugak, Craig Beardsall, Catherine Ayaruak, James Merritt, Carlo Issaluk, Addybelle Lindell and Amber Graham.
