Bacteria force boil water advisory in Whale Cove

Residents of Whale Cove, where boil water advisories are common, are once again being urged to bring their tap water to a rolling boil for at least one minute.

The culprit this time is bacteria, according to the Department of Health, which released an advisory late Friday afternoon.

Any water used for drinking, preparing infant formulas, preparing juices and ice cubes, washing fruits and vegetables, cooking and brushing teeth should first be boiled in either a pot or kettle, the department stated.
