Welcome to Cambridge Bay and I think spring has arrived early this year. Weather has been so much warmer than we had in December, January and February. It is exciting to have warmer weather where residents can enjoy outdoors and spend more time hunting and fishing, and kids playing out more with their families. The ice road to west arm has now been ploughed and many families have been out sliding with their kids.

Quana to Qillaq Innovations for making it possible for residents and their families of Cambridge Bay to enjoy the ice road and west arm.

A few families are getting ready to go open their cabins and campsites, but meantime, families are waiting for the pandemic to disappear. Many families are being safe and staying in town while the coronavirus is spreading.

Our mayor Pamela Hakongak Gross and her staff have been working tirelessly to take care of the residents of our community. We appreciate this very much for all those who are working to keep the pandemic away from our community.

Social distancing is being enforced over and over again, along with keep washing your hands and wiping surfaces and doorknobs. Many offices are shut down till further notice.
School has been shut down completely, so children are trying to understand why there is no more school all of a sudden. Please take time to talk to your children to make sure they know what is happening all over the world. With the schools shut down the breakfast and lunch programs have also been halted also.

Also to make sure our Elders are made aware of all this pandemic.

The residents of Cambridge Bay are so lucky to have such a good hunter's and trappers organization who make sure that we have country food such as fish, caribou and muskox. The EHTO received extra funds from the Government of Nunavut. Kitikmeot Inuit Association and Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. to do more community harvest. Good luck to our hunters who take care of their very own community. We say big Quana. Be safe when travelling out there and have a successful trip.

Take good care everyone. It has been hard for many of us but in all we are only being safe to not get the virus. Let us be positive and powerful to look after each other. Quana and see you with a smile and a wave. I miss my grandson but when all this is over, we can be together Felix.

Remember if you have children having birthdays, please comfort them to understand why their friends cannot go to their birthday party at this time. They will be OK. Happiest Birthday to a sweetheart princess Maci Monet Maghagalok McCallum who will be seven years old. Have a nice birthday.

God Be With You Son.
