Within two hours, a home on Tundra Ridge in Iqaluit burned down to its pilings Friday afternoon.
RCMP on the scene said no-one was injured.
Smoke billowed from the area beginning around 2:00 p.m., as sirens echoed in the capital. By 4:00 p.m., all that remained left were smouldering pilings.
Firefighters, RCMP and other emergency personnel attended the scene.
