The price of gasoline will jump two cents per litre to $1.099 across Nunavut on Thursday due to a hike in the federal carbon tax.

The carbon tax now accounts for almost nine cents per litre of gasoline in the territory.

Also rising in price will be diesel, to $1.19.6 per litre, and Naphtha will climb by a couple of cents per litre.

The Government of Nunavut offsets the federal carbon tax by 50 per cent through it's carbon rebate program.

Aviation fuels and diesel for generation of electricity are exempt from the carbon tax.
