The Government of Nunavut announced Thursday that all Qikiqtani and Kitikmeot schools will reopen to full-time in-class learning as of March 1.
All halls, conference spaces, restaurants, bars, theatres, and places of worship may increase to 75 per cent capacity or 100 people, whichever is less.
All gyms, fitness centres, pools, libraries, museums, and galleries may open to 25 people or 50 per cent capacity, whichever is less.
In all Kivalliq communities except Arviat, schools may all reopen to full-time in-class learning on March 1. However, all the other current public health measures in the Kivalliq region remain unchanged.
“Based on the current risk of Covid-19 within the territory, we will ease some of our
Covid-19 restrictions and take a step forward on Nunavut’s Path,” said chief public health officer Dr. Michael Patterson. “I want to take this opportunity to thank Nunavummiut for following the public health measures, because their hard work is one of the key reasons we can make these changes today. Let’s keep it up, so that we can continue ahead on Nunavut’s Path,
