The City of Iqaluit has postponed the annual Santa Claus parade to Sunday due to high winds in the forecast for Saturday.
Environment Canada is calling for winds to gust up to 80 km/h from the southwest on Saturday. A winter storm watch is in effect Friday night into Saturday.
The parade is now scheduled to begin Sunday at noon. It will start at Nakasuk School and make its way through the downtown area on Niaqungusiariaq and end at the AWG Arena.
The city apologized for any inconvenience that the postponement may cause.
