From Oct. 21 to 25, it was education week at Joamie Elementary School in Iqaluit.
As a treat, the students decided to make tea buns for their teachers. In less than 45 minutes, six students worked together with their teacher and made over a dozen delicious buns.
They used a recipe containing: 3 cups flour, 5 tsp baking powder, 1/2 cup sugar, 3/4 cup coconut, 1/8 tsp salt, 3/4 cup butter, 1 cup milk and 2 eggs. From collecting and then mixing all the ingredients together, to shaping the tea buns, they did it all!
The kids shaped the tea buns and placed them on an ungreased cookie sheet. They baked them at 450 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
