An Iqaluit woman has been charged with child abduction after being accused of illegally leaving the capital city with two children, according to the RCMP.
The 39-year-old accused was arrested upon her return to Iqaluit on Sept. 27. She was charged with two counts of child abduction.
The RCMP state that the children’s whereabouts are known and they’re not in danger.
The accused was scheduled to appear in the Nunavut Court of Justice on Friday afternoon.
The incident remains under investigation to determine if any other additional charges will be forthcoming, according to the police.
