"As summer in Nunavut comes to an end, the sun sets earlier and earlier. The nights are cooler. This is the time to go to the stone weir. In the cold rushing river, the weir is built by using rocks. Much like their grandfathers, the men stand on the riverbanks watching for any ripple and movement that shows the school of fish arriving. Once they arrive all the men run out to try their luck. This fish was caught in late August by Norman and the kakivak. It made a delicious dinner and provided some good memories as he followed the fishing traditions of his ancestors.

"This was on a blizzard day in Sanikiluaq, checking nets about 100 km away. After we checked the nets, we went reindeer hunting, and managed to get six reindeer. Sometimes it was hard to see the ground we were driving on."
