As it stands, incumbent Aluki Kotierk will face only one challenger – Andrew Nakashuk – as land claims organization Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated holds an election for president on Dec. 14.
Nominations closed at 5 p.m. on Friday.
The two candidates have until Monday at 5 p.m. to withdraw their papers.
NTI voters – who must be 16 years or older as of Dec. 14 and must be enrolled under the Nunavut agreement – will be able to vote in advance polls on Dec. 7, by mail-in ballot, by proxy vote, by mobile poll and in-person on voting day, Dec. 14.
