Man accused of causing disturbance on flight arrested

A man from Chesterfield Inlet was arrested after a flight crew reported a disturbance on a flight from Winnipeg to Rankin Inlet on June 7.

RCMP were dispatched to the Rankin Inlet airport to meet an inbound flight from Winnipeg after receiving a report about an unruly passenger who was causing a disturbance on the plane, according to a police news release.

Upon the aircraft's arrival, Mounties boarded the plane and arrested the passenger, who reportedly continued to cause a disturbance after landing.

A 25 year-old-man from Chesterfield Inlet has been charged with several Criminal Code and Aeronautics Act offences. He appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody pending a bail hearing. His next scheduled court date is June 12.
