Murder charge laid against Iglulik man

A 43-year-old Iglulik man has been charged with one count of murder following the death of a woman in the community. 

The female victim was rushed to the local health centre after the RCMP responded to an assault complaint at a local residence on Oct. 26, but she later died from her injuries.

Jerry Ulayuruluk was subsequently charged with murder and remains in jail with a bail hearing scheduled for Nov. 6.

Nunavut RCMP Major Crime Unit continues to investigate the incident in partnership with the Nunavut Office of the Chief Coroner.
