Construction of the new Ekaluktutiak Hunters and Trappers Organization (EHTO) building in almost finished in Cambridge Bay.
EHTO chair Bobby Greenley said the new office could be open by late November.
The building, at approximately 1,200 square feet, will be open concept with a boardroom and space for sales of items.
“It's just the right size for what we need,” Greenley said.
The funding for the EHTO project came from the Nunavut Inuit Wildlife Secretariat.
The building is located about half a block from the Northern store. For the past few years the EHTO has been renting an upstairs portion of the former Kitikmeot Corporation office building, which is now owned by the Hudson's Bay Company.
The new office overlooks the bay.
"It's high, so we can see the ocean water, the hunters coming and going,” said Greenley, who was recently acclaimed to another term.
