Northwestel postpones satellite network upgrade due to equipment delays

Northwestel’s plans to upgrade its satellite network in Iqaluit on Tuesday will not go ahead because of delays in the shipping of equipment.

The telecommunications company had planned to begin work on the KA band satellite network overnight, which would have temporarily disrupted internet and Bell Mobility service for up to six hours.

The upgrade is intended to reduce interruptions in service when it rains.

Northwestel stated on Monday that the work will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
