Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. is delaying the vote count for it vice-president election due to poor weather in a few communities.
Chief returning officer Nancy Karetak-Lindell said Monday that polls in Gjoa Haven and Arctic Bay closed earlier than scheduled on Monday due to inclement weather. Polls will reopen as soon as conditions improve.
Voting will continue in other communities but the counting of ballots in all communities will be delayed until after voting in Gjoa Haven and Arctic Bay is completed.
James Eetoolook and Peter Ohokanoak are competing for the role of vice-president in the election.
