Nunavut’s Health Minister George Hickes has extended the territory’s public health emergency for another two weeks until August 6, 2020.
The public health emergency began on March 20, 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The threat of Covid-19 remains a serious risk, and we must ensure we continue to be diligent in our efforts to protect Nunavummiut,” stated Hickes in a July 23 press release.
“Thanks to everyone who continues to follow our public health measures and advice. We are collectively responsible to one another and our communities, and we must stay committed.”
There are still no cases of Covid-19 in Nunavut. As of July 21, 179 individuals are being investigated for Covid-19.
All existing measures under the public health emergency order continue to remain in effect. For more information on Nunavut’s Covid-19 situation, visit www.gov.nu.ca.
