Cape Dorset RCMP arrested a man allegedly brandishing a rifle near the airport on Aug. 21.
The man was arrested without further incident. The rifle and numerous spent shell casings were seized, the RCMP stated.
In a news release, the police offered gratitude to residents of Cape Dorset for their vigilance and assistance.
“We take these calls very seriously. We’re very fortunate at how this was resolved peacefully and without incident thanks to the perseverance of our members and the support from residents in Cape Dorset,” said Insp. Mark Crowther, the RCMP’s Qikiqtani district commander.
