Qulliq Energy Corporation is proposing to refund customers 1.3 cents per kilowatt hour for the period of April 1 to Sept. 30.

The reason for the proposed refund is that fuel prices have been lower than QEC had anticipated.

The matter has been turned over to the Utility Rates Review Council, an independent advisory board, for public feedback and advice to the minister of QEC.

In the meantime, the minister responsible for the Utility Rates Review Council has approved an interim refund of the same amount until the council's review is complete. Refunds will automatically and retroactively be applied to customer’s monthly power bills, according to QEC.
