Rabid fox leads to warning

Residents of Rankin Inlet are being asked to keep a close eye out after at least one case of rabies in a fox was confirmed.

The fox was found at the dump and the Department of Health is warning people that a rabid fox can often appear friendly.

The department also warns residents to keep a wide berth of all foxes in and around the community, but especially if it's frothing at the mouth, making strange noises or staggering.

Anyone who suspects they may have been exposed to the deadly, infectious viral disease should seek medical help immediately.
