On Tuesday morning the Government of Nunavut (GN) announced three new cases of Covid-19 in the territorial capital, bringing the total for Iqaluit to 31.
All individuals are isolating and doing well, according to Nunavut Premier Joe Savikataaq on social media.
Numbers are on the increase since the first case was announced late last week.
“By co-operating and doing your part, you can help stop the spread. Quick contact tracing isolates the virus and stops outbreaks,” said Nunavut’s chief public health officer (CPHO) Dr. Michael Patterson.
On April 19, the community of Kinngait has also seen it's first cases arise. With two active cases announced the night of April 19 there are now 33 active cases of Covid-19 in Nunavut.
Anyone who has reason to believe they have been exposed to Covid-19 is advised to
call the Covid-hotline at 1-888-975-8601 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. EST, or notify
their community health centre right away, and immediately isolate at home for 14 days.
Please do not go to the health centre in person.
