After years of training and study, Meadowbank gold mine employee Gabriel Ulayok is now a production equipment operator.

Ulayok is qualified to operate the RH120 shovel, which is one of the largest and most sophisticated pieces of equipment in the industry.

According to Agnico Eagle, Ulayok is the first Inuit employee to reach this position within its Mine Career Path program.

The path to becoming an operator of the RH120 shovel took Ulayok six years and more than 10,000 hours of training.
