A young woman racing in Kugluktuk’s Nattiq Frolics snowmobile races died following a crash on Sunday evening.
The individual lost control of her snow machine, causing an accident, according to the RCMP, who were notified of the incident at approximately 7:45 p.m.
Race officials ran to the racer and immediately called for the ambulance. She was rushed to the health centre where she succumbed to her injuries.
“Our thoughts are with the family and the community during this very difficult time,” the RCMP stated in a Monday afternoon news release.
