The community of Cambridge Bay has been busy making meals for Elders and the community members. Meals are being prepared by Department of Healthy Living and Qillaq Lodge. Approximately 185 meals with salads and desserts are available Monday to Friday and community members are welcome to go pick up meals from the community hall between 3:30 and 5:00pm. Some meals are delivered by volunteers for those who are unable to pick it up themselves. Quana to all the volunteers and cooks for providing meals during Covid-19. From left are Celina Hogaluk, Chris Crooks, Elizabeith Kaosoni and Francis Oduro. Well done everyone.

Welcome to Cambridge Bay, where spring is here with plenty of sunshine and melting slippery roads shows signs of warmer weather. Please be careful when out walking. With warmer weather and no school yet, children and families have been outdoors walking as much as possible, going for drives to West Arm on the ice road and out towards the bridge and river. Not sure if the road is still open, perhaps closing soon.

We still have lots of snow, so the heavy equipment snow ploughs are out clearing roads as much as possible. Many kids are out sliding across and at West Arm. It is nice to be able to enjoy the warmer weather these days, especially when we are all staying indoors to keep safe from Covid-19.

Every year Cambridge Bay holds it's annual spring carnival Omingmak Frolics, but this year it was announced by the hamlet office that is has been cancelled due to Covid-19. Once we have been cleared safe from the virus, perhaps there will be events and family activities scheduled. But the community has been busy with projects for all ages to practice social distancing by having contests such as sewing stuffed animals, community wall hanging for unity and togetherness and more.

Congratulations to all our awesome Easter colouring contestants, Easter decorating cake bakers and Easter bunny creations. All the kids and adults did a great job and it is fun to see so many entering contests to keep busy, especially the kids. Prizes have been distributed to all the kids.

We are thankful for the public announcements that our Mayor Pamela Gross has been doing to keep our community informed during Covid-19. We say quana and also to the nurses and doctor for working to keep our residents healthy. And to all the volunteers and staff who are busy doing their work to keep Cambridge Bay safe. Stay well everyone.
God Be With You Son.
