Merry Christmas! Happy holidays from Cambridge Bay.

Here is wishing you all a wonderful holiday with family, friends and loved ones, and always to be careful and safe, especially during this pandemic.

The weather has been mild up here on the island, which is nice to be able to walk, go shopping and enjoy Christmas festivities.

It is the best time of the year for children, even for their hard-working parents and grandparents. We hope each loving child will receive a special gift and know they are loved. For those who will be alone, go spend time with family and friends. The Christmas star will shine upon each of us everywhere around the world.

Christmas food hampers will be distributed to residents in need in Cambridge Bay. If you need a food hamper, please apply at the Wellness Center. It was a successful food donation program that the RCMP did on the weekend. Many, many generous and thoughtful residents gave many items during the food drive. Quana to the RCMP members of the Cambridge Bay detachment. Quana, Dmitri. With your efforts, many families will be able to have a nice Christmas with extra food for their loved ones.

Congratulations to the newly elected Ekaluktutiak Hunters and Trappers Organization (EHTO) board of directors. The re-elected chairperson is Bobby Elatiak Greenley. The board of directors elected or re-elected were Tommy Tonik Ekpakohak, Cody Niptanatiak Jancke and Dennis Mahik Kaomayok. The EHTO is a very important organization within the community of Cambridge Bay. EHTO goes hunting and fishing and harvests country foods for the residents of Cambridge Bay. Without them our Elders, single and disabled individuals and those with no equipment to travel on the land and sea would not be able to have their country foods, which are so important in our diets. Quana EHTO, Bev and Rose. Merry Christmas.

During the Covid-19 restrictions, things have changed as to gatherings. Inuit are usually celebrating together with games, either on the ice or at the community hall. It is not going to happen in Cambridge Bay. Most of the Christmas activities will be virtual competitions, same as last year, but this cannot be helped due to the rules from the Public Health Office due to the Covid virus. Please continue to wear your masks and continue to wash your hands. Join in the competitions and games that are planned on the Christmas calendar that the recreation department at the hamlet made. Please pick up a calendar and keep an eye on Facebook news pages. Have fun and be safe everyone.

I wish each of you joyous holidays.

God Be With You Son. Merry Christmas in Heaven. Love From Your Family.
