Welcome to the beautiful and cold community of Cambridge Bay, Nunavut. Temperatures are extremely cold now that winter is here. We have had steady snowfalls , so there is lots of snow around. People go ice fishing nearby, setting nets.

The Ekaluktutiak Hunter’s and Trapper’s Organization (EHTO) were distributing fresh fish that were from the HTO Lake. The EHTO receives funding from the Department of Economic Development & Tourism and the Kitikmeot Inuit Association to buy fish from fishers for the residents of Cambridge Bay. It is most welcome for many residents who are unable to go out on the land, Elders and single parents, as well as those who have no equipment to go and harvest food from the land. A big Quana to EHTO for providing country food during this pandemic also.

Soon there will be Christmas holidays for everyone, school children and staff, Government of Nunavut employees and we hope everyone stays safe as the pandemic and restrictions are still on. Wear your masks when out in public and to remain safe.

The Recreation Department at the Municipality of Cambridge Bay, Nunavut are planning games and activities. They are looking for volunteers to sit on a committee, if you are interested please contact Tracy or Melissa at the Wellness Centre.

During the pandemic many ladies have enrolled into sewing classes at various locations. It is so beautiful to see families and residents wearing their parkas, kamiit and pualuit. Inuit have such a beautiful talent when producing homemade outdoor clothing to keep warm and to keep up with the tradition and culture of our Ancestors. Way to go ladies! Keep up the good work and see you all around the community wearing lovely homemade clothing.

Stay warm everyone, look after each other. Wear your masks and keep washing your hands and be safe and listen to health officials.

God Be With You Son.
